Credential means the state's licence record. Open the official search from the footnote below. Match the name and the type of licence. Look at whether the licence is active.
The search includes public disciplinary records after July 1998, except records that law prevents it from showing. Discipline here means state action taken against a licence. A

Find the state office for each kind of health worker
Medical doctors with MD after their names are licensed by the Washington Medical Commission. It also licenses physician assistants, or PAs. These are health workers who practise medicine under an agreement with a doctor. These state records were checked on September 30, 2026. B
DO means doctor of osteopathic medicine; it is another doctor's licence title. Doctors with DO after their names have a separate state office: the Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. C
Nurses get their licences from the Washington State Board of Nursing; nurse practitioners are included. A nurse practitioner holds a nursing licence that allows them to identify and treat health problems without a doctor's supervision. To prescribe, meaning to order prescription medicine, that nurse needs separate permission from the board. The nurse's licence alone does not show permission to prescribe. D

Mail order adds a state check
A pharmacy outside Washington generally needs a Washington licence to send prescription medicine here. This is called a nonresident pharmacy licence: permission for a pharmacy based in another state. The rule was checked on September 30, 2026. F
The Pharmacy Commission may excuse a pharmacy from this rule if its deliveries here are separate, occasional events. The recorded rule gives no shipment limit. Ask the commission whether that exception covers the pharmacy. F

The state cautions that an empty disciplinary record does not recommend the clinician or guarantee their skill. A
Use the search to check the name, kind of licence and whether it is active. Keep asking about the proposed medicine and later care.
If the name or licence details do not match, ask the office to explain the difference. Keep a copy of the answer with your visit questions.
